Reveil
On Sunday 1 November, we gather at the cemetery in De Panne for Reveil, a moving and reflective moment to remember those we have lost and still hold dear.
Each November, we traditionally take time to honour loved ones who are no longer with us. We visit the cemetery, leave flowers or light a candle in their memory. The absence of those we love can feel overwhelming. Reveil creates a space where grief is acknowledged and carried together, helping to lighten the weight of loss, even if only for a moment.
Reveil 2026
We come together at sunset, as daylight fades and the cemetery lights begin to glow. Through silence, spoken word and music, we create an intimate and meaningful gathering. Together, we remember those we miss and pay tribute to them in a warm and serene way. There are no grand speeches, just a heartfelt moment of togetherness that gently softens the sharp edges of grief.
Programme
Words and music will bring people together in a moment of remembrance and connection.
Kris Dekens will share a selection of personal texts. After losing her eldest daughter, Hannelore, in a road accident, she chose to tell her story. Who was Hannelore? On which evening did everything change? And how did she find the strength to carry on after such a profound loss? Inspired by her own experience, she now also supports people professionally in matters of grief and bereavement.
The musical accompaniment will be provided by Nona Bethuyne, Roos Jonckheere and Sander Claes.
We will end the evening with a small glass of jenever, a simple gesture of togetherness and shared remembrance.
